Brittany Sullivan, MA

I am a Resident in Counseling under the supervision of Kathleen Van Allen, LPC. I have experience in providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families with a clinical focus on anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and managing stress. I also have experience working with individuals and families impacted by substance use.

I employ an eclectic approach, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Narrative, and Attachment Theory modalities in my practice.

After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education, I spent three years living in Alaska before relocating to Texas and beginning a teaching career. I spent ten years teaching English at both the middle and high school level. During that time, I earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A & M University. It was through my experience in the classroom and my connection to the military community that I was drawn to the mental health field. Following my relocation to Virginia in 2018, I pursued and earned a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I became a counselor with the hope of walking alongside people as they process their memories, traumas, and providing hope for healing and personal growth. I take pride in being a military spouse and I look forward to helping and serving our Veterans by being a VA Behavioral Health Provider.

Outside of work, I enjoy going to the beach, reading, hiking, and traveling with my family.
