Kim Bloom, MDiv., MA

I am a resident in counseling under the supervision of Matt Browning. I work with adults who are experiencing life changes such as relationship issues, family estrangement, work and career opportunities, grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. I work with children and teens to develop emotion regulation skills and healthy coping habits. Working in a collaborative context between therapist and client, my approach is strengths and values based, and includes Mindfulness/Contemplative, Acceptance and Commitment therapy.

Throughout my career, my work has centered on helping people find purpose and meaning in the midst of life challenges. As a teacher, I worked at an alternative high school where students had their last opportunity to achieve graduation. As a pastor in the Christian faith tradition, and as a hospital chaplain supporting people across a range of belief systems, I helped people explore their spiritual concerns. I bring those work experiences into my practice as a mental health professional by providing skill building training while also attending to the deeper parts of the human experience. My hope for each client is that they feel seen and heard; experience a safe environment to explore inner thoughts and feelings; trust they are not alone in whatever they bring to the counseling room.

Away from work I can be found exploring the city, sitting on the porch at my mountain cabin, hiking and camping with my husband, playing with my grandkids, or working a word puzzle while eating something made in my kitchen. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
