Kristin Miller, MA, NCC
Hello! I am a Resident in Counseling under the supervision of Kathleen Van Allen, LPC. My focus is adolescents, college students, and young adults struggling with OCD, eating disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, and sleep disturbance. My approach to therapy is strengths-based and draws from theories including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I help my clients engage with the present moment through mindfulness and make daily choices guided by their personal values in order to live full, happy, and healthy lives.
I also have experience working with clients in the LGBTQIA+ community and help navigate concerns related to gender identity, relational issues, trauma, and discrimination using an intersectional approach.
I am originally from California and earned my BA in Human Development from University of California, San Diego. I completed my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. My favorite thing to do on weekends is get outside (hiking, camping, kayaking) and before I became a counselor, I worked in elementary and middle school education in Washington, DC. I work out of the Falls Church and Arlington/Alexandria offices, offering in-person and telehealth appointments.
