Megan Cheatham, Psy.D

I’m a board-eligible licensed clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in evaluating cognition, or the way people think, learn, and remember. I perform neuropsychological, psychological, and psychoeducational evaluations to help with the diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., memory problems, dementia, differential diagnosis of dementia), neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, autism), and learning disorders. I also provide evaluations for patients with suspected head injuries, as well as baseline evaluations for athletes (e.g., to track cognitive function changes over time or after a concussion). I have a background in assessing medically complex patients and Veterans. I also evaluate individuals who are post-stroke or have other neurological conditions (e.g., M.S., brain tumors, Parkinson’s, etc.) or who are experiencing cognitive problems after Covid-19 infection (“long Covid”). I also provide diagnostic evaluations for mental health conditions.

I’m from Virginia Beach, VA and completed my undergraduate degree at Old Dominion University (Go Monarchs!), and completed my master’s and doctoral degrees at Florida Institute of Technology in sunny Melbourne, FL. I completed my predoctoral internship and a 2-year postdoctoral neuropsychology residency at Salem Veterans Affairs Healthcare System.

I enjoy spending time with my family, and my husband and I are having a blast watching our toddler grow and learn. We also have a parrot – yes, she talks! I love to spend time at the beach, and enjoy nature photography and crafting.
