What We Do
LGBTQIA+
The LGBTQIA+ community represents a diverse range of identities and expressions of gender and sexual orientation. Research shows that LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially youth, experience disproportionate rates of rejection, trauma, substance use, homelessness, unemployment, and inadequate access to healthcare. As a result, members of this community are at a higher risk for experiencing mental health difficulties — especially depression and anxiety.
At A&C, we practice affirmative therapy, which includes validating and supporting each unique identity and sensitively addressing how heterosexism, homophobia, and transphobia can affect our daily lives. Our clinicians have expertise in supporting identity development, navigating difficult family dynamics, writing letters for transition related needs, and more.
We celebrate diverse sexual and gender identities and ensure our clients feel safe, welcomed, and advocated for from the moment they walk in the door.
